The name Cole Richardson likely sounds familiar if you’ve been consuming freeski video content at all in the last couple of years. He’s starred in both Matchstick Productions as well as Blank Collective films and he’s usually seen tearing up the backcountry scene in British Columbia with good buddy Sam Kuch. At just 21 years old, Richardson has already made a name for himself with his purposefully loose and playful style while also displaying a keen sense of awareness while twisting, turning and inverting through the air.
Originally a co-project with Kuch, ‘Yours Truly,’ presented by Arc’teryx, became a solo project for Richardson when Kuch unfortunately hurt himself last February. Bummed that his buddy could no longer participate, Richardson knew he had an opportunity to lay it all out there to create a short film showcasing his skiing. Filmed by CK9 Studios, Richardson went all-in by renting a house in Nelson, B.C. and covering as much backcountry ground in the region for ‘Yours Truly’ to be the “best season edit possible.” What came to be is a masterful short film where the soulful young skier shows us a new side to his skiing. One that is calm, collected and perfectly in tune with the environment around him.
